Andy is a retired geography teacher, who also ran the Duke of Edinburgh Award for many years.
He retired from teaching after his own mental health crisis, and retrained as a carpenter.
Andy is a member of the extended Coed Hills community, where he’s helped to build the eco accommodation you’ll see
in the woods. Andy says spending time working in the woods at Coed gave him the space and sanctuary he needed to recover his equilibrium and wellbeing.
Andy has travelled the world and says: “I have always been a bit of an adventurer and have undertaken fieldwork and small group expeditions to many parts of the UK and Europe as well as Peru, Iceland, Morocco, East Africa, Australia and NZ, India and Nepal, Brazil, Argentina and, completing my set of continents, Antarctica!”
He has also become an advocate and practitioner of mindfulness-based therapies, and says he feels aligned to the core values and approaches of Compassionate Mental Health and is happy member of our hosting team.
