Chance Eaton – aka The Warrior Artist – is a former British Army officer and member of 21 SAS, with a diverse portfolio that stretches across Government, diplomacy and defence. His work sits at an unusual crossroads between military discipline, men’s work and community renewal, and his skills have taken him all over the world – from project managing a Guinness world record winning 37-hour swim around Grand Cayman to raise awareness of plastic pollution, to working in the British embassy in Bogota.
In recent years, Chance has done a different kind of journeying … stepping away from military life to study Fine Art at Bournemouth University. Taking this time to nourish his own creative life led to a deep commitment to help spark creativity and wellbeing in others, and help people move from loneliness to belonging.
Chance grew up in rural Leicestershire, and describes having had a lifelong relationship with fire – something that’s deepened in recent years. Chance says gathering around the fire gives people a chance to slow down and deeply connect with themselves and each other. He shares on social media about the importance of protecting embodied and ancient human skills in an age increasingly shaped by AI.
Chance now lives in Dorset where his current focus is is The Hearth – an evolving project that brings people together around Art, Health and Community. He also runs a Dorset Men’s Group to help men connect authentically, and build trusting friendships and mutual support.
Chance’s longer-term vision is to create a permanent sanctuary for The Hearth that will be place for refuge and reconnection, where people can gather around the fire, grow skills and nurture trusting relationships with Self, others and the living world.
Alongside The Hearth, Chance is the founder of Brannock & Co – a venture focused on preservation, stewardship and long-term resilience across land, environments, and operations. Together, the two projects reflect two wings of the same deep pledge – to care for people and the land, and to help people build inner and outer skills to meet complexity with presence.
