Jenny Grewal has been Compassionate Mental Health’s Marketing and Operations lead since its launch in 2016. Jenny is often the first person you will meet at the Gatherings, and makes sure our events run smoothly.
Jenny has over 25 years experience in higher education, arts and events marketing with a specialism in digital marketing. Outside of Compassionate Mental Health, Jenny is School Business Manager at Cardiff Steiner School, and has been a key player in it’s expansion from an early years setting to an all through 3-18 school over the last 12 years. She helps run her family business, and provides marketing and business advice to small businesses and non-profit start-ups that lack access to these services. She is passionate about facilitating and supporting good works to happen.
Her interest in compassionate care stems from her brother’s experience in various mental health settings, after sustaining a severe Traumatic Brain Injury just before his 21st birthday. Jenny has been his advocate for the past 25 years, and knows the difference between good and poor care. Jenny says:
“Although my brother’s brain injury is a different experience to many people who come to the Gatherings, in so many ways it is the same. Being able to connect with the people he works with as equals rather than experts, and being seen and valued for his strengths rather than weaknesses is so important for his wellbeing. He has spent time on wards where he was over medicated and locked up, and this is so contrasting to being somewhere where he feels safe, valued and empowered to achieve his goals and potential.”
Jenny grew up in Merthyr Tydfil, and lives in the Welsh Hills with her husband and their three sons.
