Arrival on site
There is a car park next to the mansion. It is unmarked and there are no permanent reserved bays, though reserved spaces can be set up on request. Cars can drop off passengers and luggage at the front entrance before parking. With advance notice, we can offer assistance. There are floodlights for the car park which are on during hours of darkness on days of arrival and departure and other times by arrangement with us.

Access to Entrance
The car park is level and generally smooth tarmac. There are three steps to the front door. There is a permanent ramp to the garden entrance and, with prior notice, we can also install a temporary ramp to the front door.

Access within the Building
The ground floor is level throughout and the doorways and corridors are quite generous in width. The main staircase has gentle steps with wide treads and may be suitable for those who are less steady on standard staircases. There is a service lift to the first floor only and those who wish to use this should arrange it with the mansion staff.

The first floor is also level throughout though some of the fire doors may be awkward. All but three of the bedrooms have level access into the bathrooms. Two of the bathrooms are more spacious and more suited to wheelchair users.

The stairs to the second floor are steeper and those with accessibility requirements should ask to stay on the first floor.

Toilet
There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Loop
There is a portable loop system which can be obtained from the office and used wherever your session is taking place.

Vision needs
The layout of Buckland Hall is rather labyrinthine and not naturally conducive to those with visual impairments. We can help by showing you the way to key rooms initially.

Telephones and emergency contact
There are no telephones in the rooms and no room service. There is a payphone on the ground floor. Those who might need support during the night should let us know in advance so we can make arrangements to help. Mobile phone reception can be sporadic.

Dogs
Although pets are not permitted into the mansion, they welcome assistance dogs with their owners. Outside the dogs can run free, provided that they have been trained not to chase or worry farm animals.

Gardens
In the gardens, there is level access around the mansion with benches and chairs available. There are two steps up on the covered veranda. The lawns are accessible from the hard-standing, though sometimes the ground can be soft and in places is uneven.
